چکیده

Optimizing threshold value of wavelet coefficient is an important task in speckle noise reduction in the wavelet domain. Without proper selection of threshold value image information may be lost, which is unwanted. In this paper we proposed optimum threshold parameter using Fisher Discriminant Analysis (FDA) for determining the optimum threshold value of wavelet coefficient for the best speckle noise reduction. It also preserves edges without destroying image information. The method is compared with the several other classical thresholding methods on variety of images and the experimental results confirm significant improvement over existing methods.

Optimum Threshold Parameter Estimation of Bidimensional Empirical Mode Decomposition Using Fisher Discriminant Analysis for Speckle Noise Reduction

Now a days Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) is an important tool for image analyzing. Optimizing threshold value of Bidimensional Intrinsic Mode Function (BIMF) is one of the important tasks in speckle noise reduction in the Bidimensional Empirical Mode Decomposition (BEMD) domain. Without proper selection of threshold value image information may be lost, which is unwanted. In this paper we p...

Speckle Reduction in Synthetic Aperture Radar Images in Wavelet Domain Exploiting Intra-scale and Inter-scale Dependencies

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images are inherently affected by a multiplicative noise-like phenomenon called speckle, which is indeed the nature of all coherent systems. Speckle decreases the performance of almost all the information extraction methods such as classification, segmentation, and change detection, therefore speckle must be suppressed. Despeckling can be applied by the multilooki...

Speckle Reduction in Synthetic Aperture Radar Images in Wavelet Domain Using Laplace Distribution

Speckle is a granular noise-like phenomenon which appears in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images due to coherent properties of SAR systems. The presence of speckle complicates both human and automatic analysis of SAR images. As a result, speckle reduction is an important preprocessing step for many SAR remote sensing applications. Speckle reduction can be made through multi-looking during the...

Wavelet domain compounding for speckle reduction in optical coherence tomography.

Visibility of optical coherence tomography (OCT) images can be severely degraded by speckle noise. A computationally efficient despeckling approach that strongly reduces the speckle noise is reported. It is based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT), but eliminates the conventional process of threshold estimation. By decomposing an image into different levels, a set of sub-band images are genera...

Comparing Undecimated Wavelet, Nonsubsampled Contourlet and Shearlet Transform for SAR Image Despeckling

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images suffer of multiplicative speckle noise, which damages the radiometric resolution of SAR images and makes the data interpretation difficult. Bayesian shrinkage in a transformed domain is a well-known method based on finding threshold value to suppress the speckle noise. This paper present a new approach to obtain the optimum threshold values for Bayesian shr...
